Brent D. Cameron Ph.D. – Chief Scientific Officer  

Dr. Brent D. Cameron is currently the Director and Associate Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Toledo. His current efforts are focused on developing methods to allow for noninvasive physiological glucose measurement.  Over the past 10 years, Dr. Cameron has written several papers and had his research findings published in reputable diabetes magazines for his work using polarized light to monitor glucose levels within the aqueous humor of the eye.  

Other investigations of Dr. Cameron include the development of smart spinal disc implants and the development and testing of a device used in photo-biotherapy.  Dr. Cameron is also working on a technique which employs the use of surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for cytochrome P450s characterization towards the development of therapeutic drug monitoring.

Dr. Cameron has a B.S. and M.S. in Bioengineering from Texas A&M University.  Dr. Cameron obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University.  A detailed listing of Dr. Cameron’s published papers and grants awarded can be provided upon request.

Richard L. Fowler – Senior Vice President of Engineering, SpectRx – Norcross, GA

Mr. Fowler is responsible for identifying new technical and business opportunities for SpectRx. These opportunities include new technologies, product lines or business acquisitions that are strategic to the Company's business. As VP of Engineering for SpectRx, Mr. Fowler oversaw the successful development of the BiliChek™ Non-invasive Bilirubin Analyzer.

Mr. Fowler has more than 20 years experience in developing and bringing to market electro-optical devices. Prior to joining SpectRx, Mr. Fowler was President of Laser Atlanta Optics, Inc. where he developed and launched a new, low-cost laser range finder. He has also held management positions with GEC Avionics, Inc. and General Dynamics. Mr. Fowler holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas.

Wayne F. March, M.D. – Director of Ophthalmology, Long Island College Hospital - New York, NY

Wayne F. March, M.D. is the originator of the idea of non-invasively testing glucose in the eye using polarized light. Dr. March has published five textbooks and over two hundred peer-reviewed articles covering a variety of optical applications.  

Dr. March is currently a Professor at the State University of New York in New York City (Brooklyn) and Director of Ophthalmology at Long Island College Hospital in NewYork City.  He is the former Professor and Chairman of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas- Galveston. Dr. March received his B.S., M.D., and residency training in Ophthalmology from Northwestern University.

Daniel Einhorn, M.D. – Medical Director, Whittier Institute for Diabetes - San Diego, CA

Dr. Daniel Einhorn, M.D. is currently a Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of California San Diego and has been Medical Director of the Scripps Whittier Institute for Diabetes since 2000.  Dr. Einhorn was the Director of the Sharp HealthCare Diabetes Program from 1984-2000.

Dr. Einhorn is also on the Board of the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) where he has served as the Co-Chairman of the ACE Task Force and the Consensus Conference on The Insulin Resistance Syndrome.  He is also past Chairman of Clinical Research and spent six years on the Board of Directors of ACE.  He has presented at national AACE meetings for the past 10 years on subjects ranging from the evolving role of the clinical endocrinologist to clinical strategies, devices, and novel compounds.  

Dr. Einhorn has also served on The Endocrine Society’s (ES) Clinical Affairs Committee, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Managed Care Initiative and on the regional ADA and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Boards of Directors.   His research and publications cover diabetes prevention and reversal, recognition and treatment of diabetic complications, new technologies and pharmaceuticals, combination therapies, and clinical decision-making.  Dr. Einhorn has lectured nationally and internationally on these topics, and has reviewed articles for Diabetes Care, The American Journal of Medicine, and The Journal of the American Medical Association, Endocrine Practice, The Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, The Medical Letter, and is on the Editorial Board of Diabetes Health.  

Dr. Einhorn received his B.A. from Yale University and his M.D. from Tufts Medical School.  He trained at the Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School for his medical internship, one year of psychiatry, medical residency and Endocrinology Fellowship, and then served there as an Instructor in Medicine.

June 2008 - Freedom Meditech, Inc. R&D operations in full gear in Toledo, Columbus, and Cleveland, Ohio.  Initial proof of human concept product development study completed with Battelle.


Investment News

June 2008 - Freedom Meditech, Inc. secures another tranche of angel financing.  Company now pursuing private financing to perform pilot human studies.
